MKE Comicbook: Female Comicbook Creators

DSCN2144

Last night’s MKE Comicbook meet-up was fun and interesting as all our past events, but had an added bonus of the “female comicbook creators” topic bringing out some new people to the event! We met at Anodyne Coffee in Walker’s Point and spent a good hour and a half talking comics, specifically about the female creators we’re biggest fans of.

It was brought up that the more we read comics, the more we appreciated a greater diversity in the people behind the comics we enjoyed. That diversity of viewpoint added to our enjoyment of the stories. Someone mentioned that, while the market is still largely dominated by superheroes and male creators, digital distribution and the Internet is making it easier for other creators to get their efforts in front of eyeballs, and it’s proving that there IS interest out there for stories beyond the traditional superhero adventures.
