Yesterday, my brother Mitch, and I attended the gallery talk by J. Shimon and J. Lindemann at the Watrous Gallery in the Overture Center at Madison. Julie and Johnny were talking about their part in the “Wisconsin Labor: A Contemporary Portrait.” It’s a real nice show and isn’t up much longer, so go quickly–it’s on display until April 10!
Julie and Johnny are very important Wisconsin photographers. They make amazing portraits using antique cameras and old-school photo-processes. It’s always neat to see their images. 🙂
I’ll admit to a bias and declare that Tim Abler‘s work was my favorite in the show. I owe a huge debt to Tim, as he was my photo-instructor at Cardinal Stritch University (where he still teaches). He’s been an unmistakable influence on my own development as a person and as a photographer. Tim has a lecture coming up in Milwaukeee, more info HERE.
Here, for your enjoyment, are a few snapshots from the lecture…including a pic of Martha Glowacki, the gallery director; Julie and Johnny as they spoke, and my brother Mitch!
