Pride of Milwaukee: Nicole Reid’s “Peep Show”

Nicole Reid is a really swell woman.
I met her through a friend, have known her for years, and have always found her to be helpful, generous and very informed on the art world (that’s probably due to her having spent so many years working at the Tory Folliard Gallery). Anywhooo, Nicole organizes the “Peep Show“, an annual Easter-time event of artwork made from or inspired by that delectable delight, Peeps.

This year, Nicole has chosen Artists Working in Education as the beneficiary of the funds raised by this show. I’ve served on the board of AWE for nearly six years and this isn’t the first time that I’ve seen the local art community recognize the efforts of AWE and the work it does! Pezzettino, a local, quickly-rising musician also benefited AWE at a recent concert! The League of Milwaukee Artists and the Wisconsin Visual Artists designated AWE as recipient of funds raised in last year’s “Milwaukee Plein Air” painting competition.

So, if you’re not doing anything on the afternoon of Palm Sunday, March 28, please come out to MOCT and support Nicole, AWE and the Peeps!

UPDATED: Here’s some photos from the PEEP SHOW–seems to me like a real success! Nicole has much to be proud of, and AWE has much to be thankful for! Pictured are: a nice woman named Gretchen who made “Peep-Pins”, whose sales benefited AWE; Andy McCanna, a Milwaukee art-teacher who made a number of pieces in the show; and Nicole Reid herself, holding a “peep-tini”!

UPDATED: I just heard from Nicole that the Peep Show raised $256.36 for Artists Working in Education! Thank, YOU, Nicole and your coinspirator Cathrine Friedmann!
