HCB 101: Details revisited

HCB
Event: HCB 101 – a celebration of Henri Cartier-Bresson and his influential style of street photography

Activity:
PART 1: All participants are asked to photograph whatever and wherever they like on August 22nd. The only requirement of their image-making is that the photographs MUST be made with a 50mm angle of view. Images may be in Color on in B+W. Angle of view is more important, as the 50mm lens was HCB’s lens of choice.

With an APS-size sensor camera (a crop-factor of 1.5x, 1.6x), such as the Canon Digital Rebel/40D/50D and Nikon D60/D40/D80, the participants will need to shoot at a focal length of 32mm-35mm. With a full-frame digital camera, such as the Canon 5D and Nikon D700, participants will need to shoot at 50mm.

PART 2: After a day of HCB-inspired photography, participants will be invited to come up to Cardinal Stritch University to download their digital images and select 8-10 images to share in a group slideshow. Participants should arrive at the Communication/Fine Arts Building (Room 125) at Stritch between 6:00-7:00 p.m.

After downloading/selecting files (on their own laptops or in working with Troy), participants will allow Troy to load lo-res copies of those 8-10 files on his laptop and everyone will be treated to a group slideshow, at approximately 8:00 p.m. All participants will vote for their favorite images and the three most popular images will win a $-prize (a portion of the registration fees)!

Fee: $7 (money to go toward prize and admin. costs)
