May 3: Free ComicBook Day event: SPOILERS MKE – The Sequel!
Last year’s SPOILERS event went so well that it’s back for a second year.
Come out and celebrate Free ComicBook Day with this unique event – part performance, part film debut – all comics, superheroes and more! Comicbooks are a unique art form of words and pictures working together to tell a story. In SPOILERS, you will be treated to an exhibit of original artwork from comic books, and a live, dramatic reading of select scenes from comic books. The purpose of SPOILERS is to show how the scripts of comicbooks can be about a lot more than just heroes and villains slugging it out. They can be about heroes seeking redemption, about accepting who you are, about long-lasting love or painful break-ups, about honor, respect and bonds of trust…whew…it gets intense!
In this way, you get to experience the power that comics have – breaking it down into its separate elements – words and visuals!
This year there will also be the debut of a short documentary about comicbook collectors in Milwaukee!
SPOILERS is taking place at the Boulevard Theatre at 2252 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., Bay View, WI. The space will be open at 1:00, if you’d like to see the display of original comicbook artworks. Performances will be at 1:30 and 3:30, each lasting about an hour. Feel free to RSVP on FBook HERE!
This year’s event will feature scenes from The Uncanny X-men, Cages, Starman, Knights of Pendragon, Alias, Ultimate Spider-Man, Hercules, Scalped and more!
