MKE Comicbook Meetup Schedule 2014

For those who have an interest in, and a passion for, comic books, the MKE Comicbook Meetup is for YOU! We’ve been meeting consistently for the past few months – see past events here – and have set the agenda for the next months!

+++++

April 22, 6:30-9:00p

Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co.
224 W. Bruce St., Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53204
Comicbooks have a pretty strong tradition of tackling issues that “real life” itself has difficulty with (think Green Arrow+Green Lantern/drugs, Swamp Thing/nuclear waste, Ex Machina/a LOT of topics, X-Men/racism). Bring your favorite 2-3 examples of comics that deal with some sort of social issue.
Tea Krulos, author of “Heroes in the Night“, will also be stopping by to talk about his “hero’s journey” while writing about the “Real-Life SuperHero Movement”.

May 3: Free ComicBook Day event:  SPOILERS MKE- The Sequel: Last year’s SPOILERS event went so well that it’s back for a second year! Come out and celebrate Free ComicBook Day with this unique event – part performance, part film debut – all comics, superheroes and more!
Comicbooks are a unique art form of words and pictures working together to tell a story. In SPOILERS, you will be treated to an exhibit of original artwork from comic books, and a staged reading of scenes from comic books. This year there will also be the debut of a short documentary about comicbook collectors in Milwaukee!
If you forgot what last year’s event was like, here are the videos!
