UPDATED: Spring 2010 Gallery Night

WHERE’S TROY?

Just wanted to give a brief update on all the places you can see my photographs on this soon-to-be-here Gallery Night! April 16th will offer no less than THREE sites where you can see my work!

:Renaissance Theaterworks will be hosting my B+W Photographs at the Broadway Theater Center in the Third Ward. Address is 158 N. Broadway, Milwaukee. This site will see a number of my B+W darkroom prints exhibited, along with FOUR brand new images!
UPDATED: There will be TEN classic B+W images at the Broadway Theatre Center, along with work from the Grand Avenue Club. There will not be four new images from me. Unfortunately, though the images have been shot and the film processed, I was not able to get prints made in time. What is showing though, are some of my best images!

: Light Ideas Gallery, also in the Third Ward, is hosting the “Takin’ It To The Streets” juried photo-exhibit, of which I am one of the judges! Also showing will be a side-display of the “HCB 101” I organized last year, celebrating the legacy of Henri Cartier-Bresson who would have been 101 years old last year, had he still been alive. There will be a statement about the event written by me, as well as two prints that to me, embody the “feeling” of Henri Cartier-Bresson.

: Finally, I will be co-hosting an exhibit of photographs by 5th, 6th, and 8th graders at MPS’ Story School. I have been fulfilling an artist-in-residency at Story for the past six weeks, doing a different project with each grade. We’ll–that is Story School, Arts@Large, and I–will be showing a selection of photographs from all the students I worked with. It is at Story School where I will be spending my time. That exhibit will be open from 5:30-8:00, with me delivering some comments on the show at 7:30.

Gallery Night Contest: Where’s Troy?
the goal–to visit each of Troy’s exhibits on Gallery Night
the task–take a photo of yourself by Troy’s photos at each exhibit you visit and get it to Troy (farmerfreund@gmail.com or 414-405-7723)
the prize–one of Troy’s photos, your choice, from these three exhibits (matted, but not framed)
the winner–will be drawn at random from the group of people who get photos to Troy! Your name will be entered in the drawing for each photo you send/exhibit you visit. SO, visited all three exhibits and get your name in the drawing three times! Visit only one show and get your name in once!
Any questions, give me a holler! Good luck!
Take a photo of yourself at each of these exhibits and possibly be able to select one of Troy’s prints for your collection (matted, but not framed)!

Troy’s Friends on Gallery Night
Jesse Graves, a local art ed student and artist achieving a lot of positive press is also going to be part of an exhibit on Gallery Night. Jesse and his amazing mud-stencils will be part of a Parachute Project exhibit. I recently had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Jesse for MyMidwest magazine.
